Joe Barrett - Network Administrator & Repair Coordinator

Joe Barrett
Joe is a former Program Manager for Internet-enabled Appliances at Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor, Michigan. In addition, he has worked as a Senior Operating Engineer of Customer Service and Installation for GTE Network Systems in both the United States and Europe. He has managed innovation projects, breakthrough projects, international projects, technology projects, line and staff functions. He has spoken at industry conferences and been featured in technology trade journals. He is adjunct faculty for Lake Michigan College's business department. He also teaches Cisco Classes at Coloma High School and provides network and server administration for Coloma Community Schools.

Joe holds a Master of Science from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Computer Systems) – Cum Laude from Western Michigan University. Additional education includes the core curriculum of Master of Science in Business Administration from Purdue University's Krannert School of Business Management and more than 20 additional courses.


He is a member of Coloma Watervliet Area Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for the Community Hospital, Industrial Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning, and Economics Club of Southwest Michigan. He is a former adviser for IBM Mobile Computing, Chair for development of Coloma School System's First Technology Plan, and Co-chair Business Relations – Coloma New Library Campaign.
Joe lives in Coloma Township with his wife Bonny, and two division 2 college volleyball playing Coloma Alumni daughters.

Technicians

Matt and Mike
Technicians Mike Wolfe and Matt Gaipa are both graduates of Coloma High School. Mike is a graduate of ITT in Grand Rapids, Matt is a student at Lake Michigan College.
 

Universal Service Fund

The Coloma Community Schools participate in the Universal Service Plan. This federal program provides discounts to the nation's schools for telecommunications. The amount of the discount is based on the district's poverty level. The application for these discounts is renewed each year and is based on updated data. Coloma receives discounts on local and long distance phone service, centrex lines and the T-1 lines that complete the Wide Area Network.
